Music

Music

Musical training helps develop language and reasoning, improves memory, focus and coordination and can be relaxing for students even while challenging.  Music is a complex area of study that helps with emotional development, building empathy and can increase self-esteem in students. MPUSD recognizes that the study of music is an significant part of a well-rounded education and has committed the staff and resources to enable this effort.

All elementary schools currently have weekly music instruction  for 1st – 5th grades. We are adding early childhood specialists for our expanding population of TK and Kindergarten students so they may also have consistent, sequential, standards-based instruction. In addition to this, optional instruction in a choice of  7 instruments is offered to all 4th and 5th grade students. The choices are cello, violin, flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone and baritone.  The district provides instruments to 1300 instrumental students.

Take a look at our amazing music program and our amazing students!
